Quilts-Dutch Doll

Among my favorite quilts as a child was the Dutch Doll in the story, “Snow and Carroll Hill.” From time to time, there will be more stories with quilts. The dresses in my childhood quilt were scraps from my mother’s and her sister’s dresses. Cousin Em has one Aunt Lois made that is all set in bright yellow. My granddaughter, Kenna, has one in pinks.

The Dutch Doll is one of the most popular appliqué quilts. It dates back to at least the 1800’s. In some parts of the country it is called Sunbonnet Sue. A male version is called Overall Bill. It’s fun to see how many different jean and overall fabrics can be found for Bill. Of course, the most current style is Holly Hobby.
